December Ritual For Bringing Back Joy This Festive Season

Are you ready to create a festive season that feels super yummy and a joy? Christmas can invoke so many emotions from joy, sadness, anxiety, loneliness and peace. With 2020 being a challenging year for many. Why not turn the festive season into something to truly celebrate and enjoy?

I created this wee ritual and reflection a few years ago following on from a really rubbish Christmas. That Christmas was sad, cold and far from festive. And this ritual allowed me to create something magical and a moment to pause and reflect for me. Want to join me in creating something beautiful for you? Grab Your favourite festive essential oil (I have Doterra Holiday Peace), Pop a drop in your palms and take a deep inhale, light a candle and make a yummy hot drink I love a chai latte. Or as I write this I’m having a peppermint hot chocolate.  

 

Lets look at how you want your Christmas and New Year to feel. Get clear on how you want to show up. Set some intentions, kick back and enjoy!

Find a quiet space. Take your pen and journal with and settle down. Here’s some questions to get you started and write and reflect on:

  • How was your November?
  • What do you need to celebrate, what was successful?
  • What did you not enjoy about November?

Bring forward the successes and leave the things you didn’t enjoy firmly in the past. That month is gone!

This is the last month of 2020.

  • How was your 2020?
  • Was it epic or poop?
  • What are you proud of you achieved in 2020?
  • Did you show yourself how resilient you were, did you surprise yourself by committing to a new hobbie, Are you proud for surviving the year? There is still time to recognise that you are incredible, you can do great things in difficult circumstances.

 Lets focus on the festive season now.

  • What brings you joy at this time? What lights you up?
  • What makes you anxious, edgy or you don’t enjoy?
  • Can you switch up any traditions to make it more enjoyable?
  • How do you want to feel?

Do you want to be social and visiting people in coffee shops or cosy at home? Go put it in the diary even if its staying at home in your pj’s go put it in the calendar and make it happen. This is your time to enjoy!

 How can you honour your needs at this time? This is your chance to create. Tune into how you want to feel. What can you do to take care of yourself at this time?

What healthy habits, rituals and routines can you set to keep your December smooth and enjoyable?

We’re looking at ways to reduce stress to help you physically and mentally enjoy the festive season. Maybe its getting outside for a walk, scheduling meditation time, getting enough sleep or even laying out clothes the night before.

 

Lets look at a new type of festive period. Write down your best bits, feelings, emotions and activities. You can design it the way you’d like it to be.

Once you’ve done this inhale that oil again and allow the universe to work its magic!
