Forest Therapy and Nature Therapy

What is Forest Therapy?
Forest Therapy is a mindful approach to connecting with nature and self in a natural environment. Commonly known as Shinrin Yoku, this Japanese practice allows us to reach states of relaxation and awareness through slow, simple processes guided in and by nature. It offers benefits to all our bodies, mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. Fully accessible to all, it is a beautiful and powerful form of healing. It builds connection to our senses and environment.
Why I chose to Study Forest Therapy
During peri-menopause and my experience of PPPD (Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness) one thing that supported everyday was nature. I felt connected and managed to find gratitude and beauty in the experience. Some days my dizziness, anxiety and depression were so bad, yet after time in nature I felt pockets and glimmers of hope.
This time in nature supported me when I was unable to use my usual support tools of horseriding, walking, mediation and more.
I read about Eco Therapy and Forest Therapy during this time and it made so much sense to me. I instantly knew I wanted to understand more.
I truly believe that everyone regardless of age, ability, nationality or social standing should have access to time in nature. For me with a background of burnout, anxiety and depression my intention is that I show other women a way to heal and support themselves which requires a simple, slow and easeful approach.
I want to show anyone with physical or mental disability that they too can access the support of Forest Therapy.
